Tulip Planting
Today we had amazing moms and an amazing grandma come and help us plant tulips. These tulips were left by Thanksgiving Point for an experiment. Various schools throughout the country will be planting tulips and will collect data about when they are planted, when they sprout, and when they bloom. This information will help scientists track information about growth patterns and growth rates. Thank-you for coming and helping us get dirty and plant these bulbs. Our class is so excited to see them bloom!

Poetry Contest
On Thursday our class held its poetry contest. I was amazed at the time and effort our students took to memorize a poem for our class. The contest was very close (only four points separated first from last place). Three of our students moved on to the school competition held today. One of our students placed second and will be moving on to the district contest. Another student placed third and will be an alternate for the district contest. Way to go students! Keep up the good work :)

House Sorting Assembly
Today was an amazing assembly to learn about our new behavior program this year. Each class was sorted into different "houses" (like in Harry Potter). Our class is in the Slytherin house and we're super excited to show we're champions throughout this year. A pamphlet was sent home with more detailed information, but the basics are that we will earn and loose points throughout the year by positive and negative choices. The house with the most points at the end of the year will earn a field trip to the Vernal Rec. Center. Also, there is a poster contest based on the Harry Potter theme and positive behavior choices. (A note about the poster contest was also sent home.) We're super excited for this reward system and have great things to come!
First Class Reward Party
After working hard for the past few months our class earned their first whole class reward system. The class voted on and choose an electronics party for their reward. Students could bring electronics from home, or use the school's computers, to play learning games at school. I am very impressed with my class and can't wait for our next class reward party. Way to go Mrs. Bednar's amazing class!

Thanksgiving Point
Today Thanksgiving Point came to visit our class. Their presentation was a perfect end to our unit on living and non-living things. They left tulips bulbs with us to plant on Friday, October 14th. We also learned about meal worms and now have a meal worm in our classroom. Here's some pictures of the fun and learning we had today.
