Last Day of School

It's hard to believe it's the last day of school. We've had such a wonderful time on our learning adventure. Today we were able to watch the teachers play kick ball against the sixth graders. We had fun visiting with our friends, played one last round of sleeping lion and enjoyed lunch in our classroom. Thank-you all for a wonderful year and I hope you all have an amazing summer!

DOT Assesmbly

Today we were happy to have the county DOT employees come and talk about how to be safe around their equipment as well as learn more about what they do. Students entered into a coloring contest as well as a name the bulldozer contest. The county is buying a new bulldozer and they are having a contest between schools in the area to name the bulldozer. The winner of the contest will get their name on the bulldozer. The students especially loved watching the equipment at work.

Field Trip

We had a wonderful time on our field trip to the USU museum in Price. The students were able to talk to a paleontologist, archaeologist, biologist, visit an interactive classroom, and play in the hands on play area. Following the museum we ate lunch at the park and had time to play. I'm sorry but I was only able to take pictures of my group. If you were able to go on our field trip and have pictures of your group I'd love to post them (just email me them as an attachment).

March Madness Reward and Sage Test Assembly

Today students who read throughout March Madness was able to attend a movie & doughnut party at the high school. I am happy to say that our class was one of the few that had all students qualify to attend. Before the party we had an assembly where Mrs. Oman got us excited for Sage Testing. I know we will "Rock the Test!"

Book-It Winners

I am very proud of the students who made a commitment to read at least 20 minutes a day 5 days a week. These students completed a reading calendar each month and returned the calendars for a free pizza certificate. These students were also told they would receive an additional prize if they returned all of their calendars. Today we announced our first second and third place winners. Third place winners handed in at least three calendars during the challenge. These students will be eating in our classroom on Monday. Second place winners returned at least five calendars during the challenge. These students will be eating in our classroom on Monday and received a $5 gift certificate for a free book. First place winners returned all six reading calendars. They will be eating in our classroom on Monday, received a $5 gift certificate for a free book, and received a special certificate from the Pizza Hut Book-It program. Way to go readers!

Dance Assembly

What an amazing day full of the arts. Later in the afternoon we were pleased to attend an assembly hosted by a Utah dance company. They taught us about various forms of dance and we had fun trying some of these dances during their presentation. What a great day full of artistic fun! (The pictures of kind of blurry because of their amazing quick movements.)

Ink Printing

Our class walked over to the high school today where Mr. Spunaugle taught our class about print making. We then made our own templates and created prints with these templates. What an amazing time we had learning about a new type of art.
